Reminders for Winter
Check ADS’ Website to see if Collection is suspended due to weather.
After the holiday season, Christmas trees will be collected on Fridays. We ask that all tinsel and decorations are removed. Please do not place trees in plastic bags.
Safety in your community is ADS’s primary concern. Roads and/or areas which are deemed unsafe due to snow or ice will be suspended for collection. If suspension occurs, services will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.

What is accepted in Regular Trash?

Everyday generated trash is household trash, for example, kitchen and bathroom trash. For more information on Household Hazardous Waste contact the Loudoun County Division of Waste Management.

What is accepted in the Recycling collection?

ADS now uses Single Stream Recycling, a new technology that allows participants to place all of their recyclables into one container. This type of recycling eliminates the need to separate glass, paper, cardboard, aluminum, steel, etc. into separate bins; which, in turn eliminates the necessity of multiple collection containers.  ADS – What is Recyclable?

View the Loudoun County Department of General Services’ Residential Recycling Guide.

What is accepted as Yard Waste?

Grass clipping and leaves are to be placed out in clear plastic bags or brown paper bags. Personal containers may be used but need to be clearly marked “yard debris.” Tree limbs and brush must be no longer than 5 feet in length and 6 inches thick in diameter. These items must be tied with rope or twine in arm length bundles. Items that are bagged or bundled are not to exceed 50 lbs. Items that are not acceptable yard debris collection are mulch, dirt, rock, and sod.

What metallic items are picked up?

ADS offer a Metallic Item Removal Service at an additional charge per item. Includes white goods such as stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators, dryer, hot water tanks and other bulky metallic items. Refrigerators, Freezers and Air Conditioning units must have the Freon removed and tagged by a certified technician. Call ADS at 1-703-368-0500 at least 24 hours in advance for pricing and scheduling.

What is allowed in the Bulk Collection?

ADS offers a Bulk Removal Service at an additional charge per item. Bulk Service includes items such as mattresses, sofas, tables, chairs, etc. Call ADS at 1-703-368-0500 at least 24 hours in advance for pricing and scheduling.

Holidays

Trash and recyclables pickup are provided on all holidays that fall on a regularly scheduled pickup day. The only exceptions are: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. When a designated pickup day falls on one of these holidays, trash and recyclables will not be picked up. In these situations, trash should NOT be placed outside in designated areas until the next regularly scheduled pickup. Christmas trees are collected on the regular yard waste pickup day. Remove all tinsel and decorations from trees and do not place trees in plastic bags.
